I hear this line many times talking to people, who complains it frequently that education is becoming a sole business these days. If you want a answer in yes or no, then I would say, "yes".
Education is a sole business and people have started this business to earn money. It is not possible to teach the bunch of pupils, under the tree these days. There is a need of the fast learning, which requires a big infra-structure equipped with the laboratories and the classrooms.
There is another need of the qualified and the experienced faculty, which requires the money. There are a numbers of the institutes opened today having the affiliations of the different universities and the government bodies. AICTE approves the colleges which have the required infrastructure and faculty members.
In Himachal Pradesh itself there are 15 to 18 colleges having the affiliation of the Himachal Pradesh University which is now provided by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University, and they are approved by the AICTE also. Having the numbers of the colleges has its advantage, because it can result in the positive competition among the different institutions. They strive for the betterment of their facilities in terms of the infra-structure and the staff.
It is good if they have this positive competition only because it is for the benefit of one and all. Common man has to understand that it is a normal thing for the turning of the education into a money making business. If the organization have more money they can provide more facilities. There is a need to understand the importance of the faculty members which are working in these institutes, because they all are having the experience of teaching, which a common graduate or masters of technology do not have. To retain the experienced faculty management should learn to respect the teacher by giving them salary hike and providing them better institutional facilities and training. I think the management who understand this simple advise will grow in a good way.
